My urban square

Every book about squares uses an own classification off different types. So, first of all I have to make clear the definition of my urban square.

Each square type (*) has its own function and therefore its own proportions. The squares where people meet each other, wanted to stay on, drink something at a terrace or just sit down on a bench or wall I call an urban square. Urban squares are the social points in the urban structure. On urbansquares.com this is called a social, residential square, Pellgrim & Volkmann called this an outdoor-living-room, and the closest square type on wikipedia.com is the town square.

The cause to start this blog is to find the proportions of a nowadays urban square.

*) In my book ‘Logische Ruimte’ I define four square types: a traffic square, an event square, a spatial square and an urban square.
